Three year old Stepan was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma of adrenal gland, high risk, in 2020, when he was 2 years old. Neuroblastoma is a type of aggressive solid cancer that affects mostly children. It requires equally harsh treatment to make sure it does not recur.
Stepan was treated in Russia where he lives, and the treatment involved six cycles of chemotherapy, surgery, and high dose chemo followed by bone marrow transplant. His parents also traveled to Cologne and Essen in Germany to access immunotherapy and proton radiation and help Stepan stay in remission. In August 2021 Stepan completed his treatment.
He was finally able to start recovery, gain weight and develop his skills.
Unfortunately, in October 2021 Stepan had relapsed. Now he has to restart treatment all over again, and it is going to take a long time and be very expensive. His family is crushed by the news, but they are trying to do all they can to help Stepan. They will appreciate any help.
